「植物と人が気持ちよくかかわれる場所。そんな庭を目指しています。」
"都市に人のかかわる緑がほしい"、そんな想いのもとにアークガーデンは生まれました。植物の物理的な役割だけでなく、多くの人が行き交う都市だからこそ、風やにおい・季節感など植物が運んでくれる人の心に響く緑の気持ちよさを、庭をとうしてだれかに届けたいと思いました。
そして文字通り"かかわる"ということを形にしたのがヒルズガーデニングクラブです。植物の知識のある無しに関係なく、植物に興味がある人・人が好きな人が集まって、街の緑を自分たちひとりひとりが育ててゆこう、手づくりの緑を街に散りばめてゆこう、というのがクラブの中心的な考え方です。そしてそれらがつくる風景をいつか、そこで多くの時間を過ごした人たちや、そこで生まれ育った子供たちに"ふるさと"の景色として思い出してもらえたらいいな、と思います。
植物と人が気持ちよくかかわって、そこを訪れる人も含めて私たちを、なんだか幸せにしてくれる場所、そんなところを庭とよびたい。アークガーデンはこれから庭を目指します。
The ARK GARDEN was created on the basis of a wish to involve people with greenery in the city. I believe that the part played by plants must go far beyond their physical role.
Through the gift of gardens, I would like the many people who come and go in our bustling city to experience the breeze, the fragrances and seasons that are carried by greenery and fill every heart with a sense of well-being. The concept of "involvement with greenery" is ideally exemplified by the HILLS GARDENING CLUB. It does not matter whether a person comes to our organization with a wealth of gardening knowledge or knows nothing at all. We are a gathering of people who have a particular attachment or interest in plants.
Our club's primary mission is for each member to go out and cultivate greenery in our communities and begin scattering seeds of handmade greenery throughout our city. It is my hope that someday the people who enjoy long hours in our gardens or perhaps their children who grow up beneath own trees will look back on verdant scenes and recall this landscape as their memory of "home"
A place there plants and people not only co-exist but are involved in a shared sense of well-being. A place where visitors, including those of us in the Gardening Club, always leave the uplifted sprits. This is what a garden should be , and what ARK GARDENS aims to be now and in the future.
